High Demand for More Data Center Space
CyrusOne purchased 14 acres of property in Northern Virginia, in the Loudoun Tech Center. The new data center in Sterling, Virginia extends CyrusOne’s presence to the East Coast and will be used to meet existing and new customer demand for data center space in the region.
The Loudoun Tech Center has superior fiber connectivity options due to its direct access to one of the largest Internet Exchange Points in the country. The area also has some of the lowest energy rates on the East Coast.
CyrusOne expects the first phase of the new site to be completed during 2014.
New State-of-the-Art Facility
Upon completion, the new facility is expected to:
- Accommodate a shell of approximately 400,000 square feet
- Provide up to 240,000 square feet of raised floor space
- Offer 36,000 square feet of Class A office space
- Deliver up to 48 megawatts of critical load.
The first phase of construction will include a 129,000-square-foot shell with 60,000 square feet of raised floor space, 16,000 square feet of office space, and 12 MW of critical load.
