CyrusOne Launches
Enhanced Data Assurance Program for High-Performance
Business Continuity
Houston, TX, January 5, 2005
- CyrusOne has announced a new data protection
program to help client companies backup
and restore data more efficiently, more
cost-effectively and with greater confidence
and scalability.
Users of this new service will receive enhanced
data protection measures which go far beyond
industry standards for hosted data backup,
retrieval and redundancy. Typical secondary
data backup is conducted by backing primary
disks up on tape, in their entirety, on
a regular basis. The most advanced hosted
solutions offer primary disk-to-secondary
disk back up, backing up the entirety of
the data once and then only the changes
moving forward. CyrusOne’s Data Assurance
Program performs a full disk-to-disk backup
weekly, with automatic backup of any data
changes in between and full secondary disk-to-tape
backup monthly.
Other program attributes include an improvement
in overall data integrity, proprietary backup
alarm processes which prevent potential
data problems, as well as dedicated and
disparate backup servers for maximum security,
privacy and performance. The net result
of the program is a lower total cost of
ownership and the virtual elimination of
risk that data will be lost either due to
technical complexity or major physical catastrophe.
“The Enhanced Data Assurance program
is just one of many modular solutions we
offer our customers,” comments Dave
Ferdman, President & CEO of CyrusOne.
“End-to-end, all of our solutions
are designed to offload enterprise-level
IT burdens in a way that leverages new technology
applications and progressive business processes
for superior cost efficiencies”.
The cost and quality of business continuity
efforts is a significant business challenge
today. According to a recent survey by Compass
Publishing, 58 percent of respondents experienced
some sort of disaster in the last five years--with
71 percent of those disasters affecting
business. And a 2004 study by Deloitte found
that not only did two-thirds of the hundreds
of its survey respondents not have a Business
Continuity maintenance process in place,
but also that 28 percent didn’t even
know what they were dependent on third parties
for--or what those third-parties’
recovery capabilities were.
