DXP Enterprises Partners with CyrusOne to Maximize Productivity and Deliver Additional Value to Customers
Leading Industrial Distributor Identifies Outsource Partner to Help Them "Do More with Less"

Houston, TX • July 27, 2004 • CyrusOne (www.cyrusone.com), Houston's largest full-service data center, announced today it will be performing CITRIX® implementation and migration for DXP Enterprises, Inc. (NASDAQ: DXPE), converting the industrial distribution firm to a thin-client environment.

The highly competitive field of industrial distribution is one of the largest and fastest growing industrial segments in the United States and abroad. It encompasses a breadth of disciplines including logistics, equipment technology, manufacturing processes, supply chain management, and much more. As a leader in the field, DXP has stringent requirements for the reliability, efficiency and speed of its IT systems.

"DXP focuses on providing a breadth of services to our customers," said Suzie Dahle, vice president of Information Technology for DXP. "We evaluate how our services would be beneficial for our customers and we understand core competency. We are better equipped to handle customer replenishment of industrial products because that is our core competency. So we look for partnerships with customers who will benefit from our experience and value added services. We look for partnerships with vendors like CyrusOne whose core competency is bringing us value in the specific area we are looking for; in this case it was remote monitoring and Citrix implementation."

With employee productivity as a top goal for DXP, Dahle and her team work hard to identify technology that fits within the company's strategy and where dollars spent relate to increasing employee productivity in the company and for their customers. With a background in both operations and technology, Dahle understands the need to maximize value in order to achieve the greatest overall benefit for the Company. As such, the IT staff tracks ROI very closely to determine whether or not expenditures actually achieve their anticipated value.

"Not only do we calculate ROIs, we prove our ROIs. For example, if we say that we are going to save X number of dollars in soft costs, we then track all the invoices and any related costs and roll them together" stated Dahle. "If we said we would have the project paid for in nine months, we track the progress and do a thorough analysis."

With the internal IT department previously streamlined to six core personnel, DXP required assistance to meet several of their IT objectives for the year. "Knowing that DXP was specifically interested in converting their Citrix servers and expanding their thin-client environment allowed us to develop a finely tailored solution," explained Blake McLane, vice president of sales for CyrusOne.

Under the terms of the relationship, DXP will leverage CyrusOne's knowledge and expertise to provide remote management of DXP's Citrix servers. The team at CyrusOne will update the software and licenses during the conversion as well as streamline the servers in use.

As lead on the project to identify the provider who would work with DXP, systems administrator, Chris Evans noted two factors that weighed heavily in their decision to select CyrusOne. "First, the value. The work and range of skills we will receive and have access to for the amount we will spend is great, we love it."he said. The second selling point Evans identified was the approach CyrusOne takes to remote management. Because infrastructure and application requirements vary from client to client, CyrusOne provides a range of remote monitoring and management services that can be adjusted as needs change.

DXP required a more proactive approach for its core systems, including performance management, reporting and trending, patch management and change management. CyrusOne continuously monitors DXP's systems and if a potential problem is detected it can be resolved immediately and reported to DXP. That way, systems are always up and DXP's IT staff can focus on internal and external client service instead of putting out fires. Explained Dahle, "We are expecting CyrusOne's proactive capabilities to actually boost the value of our services to our customers. It's value over value."
