CyrusOne HOSTs Houston-Area Non-Profits for 100% Guaranteed IT Hosted Solutions in Partnership with United Way.

August 23, 2004

Houston, TX

CyrusOne (www.cyrusone.com), Houston's largest full-service data center and provider of managed hosting and selective IT outsourcing, announced today the launch of a new community service initiative aptly dubbed HOST -- Helping Out with Services and Technology.

The HOST program, developed in partnership with United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast, was shaped by CyrusOne as an opportunity to provide critical disaster recovery, hosting and bandwidth services to not-for-profit organizations in Houston with an emphasis on educating the organizations about their options for managed services.

This program comes just in time for non-profits that will soon face issues including: corporate governance, rising energy costs and a squeeze to deliver supplementary IT services on a static budget.

"Many charities and community organizations do not have access to major technology firms, experts, and resources. This is a great opportunity for charities to take advantage of the kind of technology CyrusOne is offering them," said Michael Joplin, vice president of IT for United Way.

CyrusOne will provide HOST services to six different United Way member not-for-profit organizations for a period of three years. The current market value of services to each organization will total more than $200,000 over the three-year period.

"Non-profits, like businesses, are dependent on efficiency and security of their systems. With this program, we can guarantee that six local charities will always be up and running 24/7. This program not only allows us to put our expertise to work for our community but to educate the non-profit affiliates of United Way about security of their data and how to manage that effectively," said David Ferdman, CEO and president of CyrusOne.

Jacqueline S. Martin, President of United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast, said "United Way has a commitment to community service. We are always looking for creative opportunities to get local businesses involved with our member organizations. HOST is a very effective way to demonstrate partnership opportunities to the corporate community who desire to help make Houston a better place for everyone."

United Way, the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, and Child Advocates of Houston were selected as the first organizations to receive the donated technology services. A committee of representatives from both CyrusOne and United Way will select three additional non-profit organizations. The deadline to apply for the program is September 15, 2004.

United Way member organizations can obtain an application by contacting Michael Joplin, vice president of IT for the United Way at (713) 685-2408 or via email at mjoplin@uwtgc.org. The application is also available online at www.cyrusone.com/host
