Frankfurt, December 17, 2025 – CyrusOne, a leading global data center owner, developer and operator specializing in delivering sophisticated digital infrastructure solutions worldwide, recently supported the Hessen Special Police Unit by providing an unused office building for realistic training sessions for Hessian special forces, in a notable collaboration between local authorities and the private sector.

Taking place at the former Europark site on Wilhelm-Fay-Strasse in Sossenheim, the training exercises utilized the unused office buildings on the 27,500 square meter (6.8 acre) site before planned demolition works began to transform the site into a state-of-the-art CyrusOne data center, named FRA6.

This initiative offered a valuable opportunity for the Hessen Special Police Unit to train in a realistic environment. The diverse terrain and existing infrastructure of the abandoned site provided conditions that enhanced the unit's ability to practice tactical maneuvers and prepare for real-world scenarios.

The arrangement demonstrates CyrusOne’s commitment to community engagement and responsible site stewardship, ensuring that each phase of the data center development offers value to the local community and general public where possible.

“We are grateful to CyrusOne for the opportunity to use this site for our training sessions and appreciate the support as we invest in our staff’s development,” said Thomas Wlotzek, Head of the Special Forces Directorate at HPE. “The collaboration with CyrusOne has been excellent throughout and has enabled us to conduct important training in a realistic and secure environment.”

“Our collaboration with local law enforcement reflects values central to our work – security and infrastructure protection,” said Carsten Schneider, VP and Managing Director Germany at CyrusOne. “It also demonstrates our commitment to being a positive presence in the community and maximizing the value of our sites where possible to benefit the local residents.”
