CyrusOne Achieves Gold Certification from Green Business Certification, Inc. for Zero Waste Efforts

DALLAS – June 17, 2025 – CyrusOne, a leading global data center developer and operator, specializing in delivering state-of-the-art digital infrastructure solutions, today announced that its SAT5 facility in San Antonio, TX was awarded Gold certification under the TRUE (Total Resource Use and Efficiency) rating system. Administered by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), TRUE helps facilities measure, improve and recognize zero waste performance by promoting sustainable waste management and reduction practices, which contribute to positive environmental, health and economic outcomes.

To achieve TRUE certification for SAT5, CyrusOne implemented several initiatives that resulted in a 90% diversion rate, successfully diverting 149,800 lbs of waste from landfill. The site further reflects CyrusOne’s commitment to sustainability with its closed-loop cooling design that significantly reduces dependence on regional water resources and recent achievement of Green Globes (3-Globes) Certification.

“Achieving TRUE certification for zero waste is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and operational excellence,” said Kyle Myers, Vice President of Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability at CyrusOne. “This milestone reflects our team’s dedication to minimizing waste, optimizing resources, and driving meaningful change at CyrusOne. We are proud to be the first data center in Texas to achieve TRUE certification.”

Waste affects every part of our communities and effective waste management strategies are critical to ensuring both public and environmental health. By pursuing TRUE certification, CyrusOne demonstrates a commitment to sustainability leadership by shifting to circular thinking and prioritizing processes, operations, and actions to reduce waste and resources throughout their system lifecycle.

“Zero waste is a powerful part of any company’s sustainability strategy,” said Peter Templeton, President and CEO of U.S. Green Building Council and GBCI. “Through their TRUE certification, CyrusOne enhances their operations in a way that maximizes the lifecycle of every product to promote a fully circular economy.”
